BRESSINGHAM GARDENS NEEDS YOU !Head Gardener Penny agreed after a full inspection of our very special 17 acre Bressingham Gardens, that a state of emergency exists in the massive amount of weeds that need clearing.Weeds have their place —but not in our Gardens! This is a call out to the community to help us battle the weeds and bring the gardens back to beauty.Can you find 3 hours a week or more to help the garden team this summer get on top of the situation?We are looking for short term help now and also looking to establish a volunteer team to enjoy the gardens through the seasons.Please contact Penny by email: pennybrice@gmail.com and we will be very grateful for your support.NOTES ON GARDENSAs most who garden will know , this has not been an easy year for gardening and for many plants. Excess rain, strong winds at times, extensive flooding. Difficult to garden or plant unless you are on well drained sandy soil.In the Bressingham Gardens, particularly Foggy Bottom, flooding has created damages and losses. Conifers , trees and shrubs have died . The latest casualty in the Summer Garden where a 70 year old Japanese Cherry was blown over . This was Prunus Tai-haku planted in 1952 by Alan Bloom,founder of the family business , Blooms Nurseries Ltd.IMAGE Penny and Matt Bloom with their backs to the camera survey the fallen Japanese Cherry. ...
