Saturday 9th September – ‘Lessons from the 50-year garden’ talk by Adrian Bloom

50 years after he put in the first plant into the empty field which was to become a renowned garden, Adrian Bloom highlights – with some remarkable images – some of the dramatic transformations over that period. He will also point out successes and failures, plants that have stood the test of time – and his future vision for Foggy Bottom.

Adrian will sign his new book Gardening with Conifers and the popular Bloom’s Best Perennials and Grasses.

Sunday 10th September – ‘The Dell Garden – the first Bressingham Garden and the legacy of creator and founder Alan Bloom‘ talk by Jaime Blake

Jaime Blake will speak on the legacy of creator and founder Alan Bloom. In 1946 Alan Bloom purchased Bressingham Hall and Farm, but it was not until 1953 at age 47 that he started the gardens which were to become famous for his island beds of perennials, and through his books, radio and television, as well as with helper Percy Piper, breeding some outstanding new varieties. Alan was at the forefront of their renaissance as garden plants. Jaime has been Head Gardener in Alan Bloom’s Dell Garden since 1988.
